Questions, answered.
What is an IP address?
It’s the address the internet uses to send data to your connection. The one shown at the top of this page is your public IP, usually assigned by your ISP and shared by every device behind your router.
Why is my location wrong?
Location is estimated from databases that map IP ranges to places. It’s usually accurate to your ISP or city, and can show a nearby city, your ISP’s hub, or your VPN server instead.
Is this site really free?
Yes. Every tool is free to use with no account and no sign-up.
Do you store what I type?
No. Calculators run entirely in your browser, and DNS lookups go straight to the public resolver you pick. Nothing is saved.
Your next outage starts with a quick check.
